Reviews decide which reader someone calls, so it is worth saying plainly where ours come from and what we do with them.

Two kinds of review

Imported reviews came with the listing when it was created and were collected from public sources. They are shown as they were written, and the date on them is the date they were left, not the date we added the listing. We do not mark these up for search engines, because they are not reviews this site collected.

Reviews left here are posted through the form on a listing page. They carry a "verified" label, and only these count toward the rating shown in search results.

What we ask of a reviewer

  • Sign in with a Google account. We do this so that one person leaves one review per listing, and so there is something to act on if a review turns out to be fake. Your email is never shown on the site.
  • Write about your own visit or session, in at least a few sentences.
  • One review per listing. If your view changes, contact us and we will update it rather than add a second.

What we remove

  • Reviews from the business about itself, or from a competitor.
  • Personal details about anyone: full names of private individuals, addresses, phone numbers, medical information.
  • Abuse, threats, and content that is about something other than the service received.
  • Reviews offered or paid for in exchange for anything.

We do not remove a review because a business dislikes it. A negative review that describes a real experience stays.

If you are the business

You can reply to nothing here, because we do not run a reply system yet. What you can do is contact us with a specific complaint about a specific review. If it breaks a rule above, we take it down. If it does not, we will say so and explain why.

Reporting a review

Use the contact form with the listing address and the first few words of the review. We answer within a couple of working days, and we never charge for removing or correcting anything.

Ratings

The number on a listing is the average of the reviews shown on that page, with the count next to it. Listing order on category and city pages is weighted: a reader with one five-star review does not outrank one with forty reviews averaging 4.6.
