Publisher displayed unethical behavior. I was price-gouged on a legal and then they refused to take accountability when it ran wrong. I just paid $520 for a name change that I had to run twice due to publisher error. Refused to acknowledge any fault despite the clear cut-and-dry nature of the issue. Exhibited severe denial and zero goodwill toward me as a customer. Should have gone to the chronicle. Beware.
Edit after publisher response: I had everything I needed to publish the first time around but was not listened to when I asked twice for document 2 of 2 to be printed. Per the employee, he had admittedly placed few legals, which is why I questioned his insistence of only publishing page 1 of 2. Rather than push the issue for a third or fourth time, I simply (wrongly) assumed if he was mistaken, they would make it right. They did not and instead charged me more than double the original cost to run it again. At one point the publisher acknowledged that the employee was probably trying to save me cost by only publishing the one page. But then when it came time for billing me, straight denial and refusal to acknowledge any mistake on their part or offer credit. States may set the rate but these guys copy the full PDF into the paper rather than using a text-based template that saves inches and lines (i.e. cost).
