I was looking for a place to learn about meditation and found Kadampa Meditation Center. The classes have really helped me in becoming a happier person and have really improved my relationships, at home and at work. It's a great place to just hang out and meet other like-minded people.

This is an oasis in the middle of Los Angeles for finding inner peace. I started by coming to the lunch time meditations, and everyone I met was very friendly and helpful. Gradually, I started coming to the General Program classes, pujas (chanted prayers) and eventually joined Foundation Program for more intensive study and meditation. You can take your meditation practice to whatever level you want, and there is never any pressure (other than people genuinely being happy to see you)!

Beginner friendly. Offers free drop in classes, self guided meditation hours, deeper study programs around Buddhist teachings from their founding author. Really kind community, almost entirely community run. Good place to meet interesting international people.
