Station is very clean and offers several outlets to charge your phone. Restrooms and vending machines that accept credit cards are convenient. Mostly a safe Amtrak station, but occasional homeless and questionable people begging for money. Uber and Lyft are extremely rare in Merced, so be sure to have a ride or call a local taxi.

Hotter than f▪︎ck! Train station doesn't have a lot of shade. But best stop on the entire San Joaquins route because its a crew change stop so its 5 times as long as the other stops which means its only stop where you can get off train & smoke!
