I picked a very hot day for my hike (forecast for 80 but over 90), and this is a fairly exposed ridge trail. Come on a typical cool Point Reyes day and it is a lovely walk through a mix of open grassland and oak woods. A bonus today was the abundant blackberries!

A great trail to run/walk/stroll around. Great views of the rolling hills, Tomales Bay, and lots of cows along the way. There is no shaded trail at the start and you’ll have to go about 3 miles in to start getting some shaded spots, so pack that sunscreen. No restrooms or picnic tables either. Dogs are allowed here, but be sure to have them on a tight leash with cows around. Trail is shared by hikers and bicyclists.

Beautiful 13.7 mile hike if you start at the Trailhead then go and do the bolinas ridge loop. If you do it counter clockwise it is not a very steep climb trail, plus you can stop at the camp to top off water and rest for a minute. Plenty of shade for the majority of the hike. Was amazed how green it still was for this time of the year for being in a drought. Was not as crowded as one would think.
